In recent weeks, countless celebrities have come under fire for their political views. With the movie industry being predominantly Democrat (Liberal), celebrities have voice their disappointment of the Electoral College and voters because Donald Trump was elected president; the president-elect was inaugurated three days ago on January 20. When Meryl Streep was awarded with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, she attacked the president in her acceptance speech by saying, “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”
However, President Donald Trump “[was] not surprised’ by the criticism from “liberal movie people.” Trump announced via Twitter that he will be hosting a party this Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in honor of his supporters. The presidential bash- ‘Paint the Town Red’ will be hosted live on NBC at eight o’ clock Tuesday night. While you shouldn’t expect many celebrities to attend, there is a good chance that Vladimir Putin will be in attendance. There are talks that Hilary Clinton’s favorite designer, Ralph Lauren, will be designing Melania Trump’s and Ivanka Trump red dresses for the event. We have already seen Melania Trump in a Ralph Lauren creation at the inauguration.
Jimmy Kimmel, the host of Jimmy Kimmel! Live!, has come under fire for advocating a boycott of the Oscars in retaliation of the Trump presidency. In honor of Meryl Streep’s controversial speech at the Globes; he will be hosting ‘Blue Oscars’ to bring attention to the fact that the movie industry is predominantly Democrat.
On February 26, the 89th Academy Awards, will be a ghost town with members of the movie industry attending Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Blue Oscars’.
Meryl Streep will co-host the ‘Blue Oscars’, where the “overrated” actress will give a speech about the importance of fighting for our freedom of speech. Another star that will give a speech is George Clooney. George Clooney was on Jimmy Kimmel! Live! When the late night host ask the star to give a speech at the ‘Blue Oscars’, the star readily agree.
So, tune in on January 24 for Donald Trump’s ‘Paint the Town Red’ on NBC and Meryl Streep’s and Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Blue Oscars’ on ABC- February 26.
