Poetry Edition 2: Acrostic Poems

This is the second issue in a series of poetry editions. Poetry editions will be published in quick succession and feature a variety of poetic styles.

These poems are acrostic poems. Acrostic poems have the vertical spelling of a word hidden in their lines.

Friday night is when the crowd
Roars with excitement
In the bleachers, Moms and
Dads cheer on their kids
Athletes face off on the fifty
Yard line.


Walden by Grace Watson

While Thoreau lived in a cabin by
A lake, he couldn’t
Live deliberately.
Day after day, he fell into a routine. And
Everyday, he risked his life in the wilderness. He
Never succeeded.


Miserable by Remington Hiles

Melancholy
Ill
Suffering
Easily hurt
Rueful
Afflicted
Brokenhearted
Low
Eventually destroyed
