Morgan Langenstein

Life for me has been a game of chess,

but it’s a game I never win.

The board is flat, the same as always.

The game is fair and always congruent,

yet I still don’t win.

Our pieces are all the same,

but when it came your turn to make the move,

you always make sure you win.

You’ve always been put first and I am always last,

but now you want me to keep your selfishness hidden in the past,

you let me win,

your king is down,

but I knew your plan all along,

I’m just playing for the “thrill of the game”

but eventually you’ll let your guard down.

Check mate.
