Creepy Mirror

“Hey, Amanda, I think i’m going to go.”

Amanda comes rushing into the room with two cups of coffee in her hands. She almost falls, but catches herself before.

“What, why? I just made us coffee, and we haven’t watched our show yet, you’ve only been here for thirty-eight minutes, stay Lilly.”

“Amanda, look outside, it’s going to storm. I’d like to get home before I won’t be able to.”

“Okay fine. But when you get home, tell your boyfriend to share. I miss hanging out with you.”

“I know, me too. And Jimmy isn’t home, he’s at his mother’s house for dinner.”

“Okay, well, drive safe. Come over next week, we can watch the show then.”

“Okay, bye!”

Lilly walks out to her car and drives away, shortly afterwards, it begins rain. Amanda goes to take a shower before the storm comes. She was walks into bathroom when she hears a big cash, and the power goes off. She runs back into the living room to see her neighbors house destroyed. She noticed a tree fell across the street, which knocked down a powerline. She went to grab her cell, but she had no service either. Her neighbor, Shelly, knocks on the door. Amanda goes to answer.

“Amanda, can I borrow your car? Our power is also out, the tree fell onto our roof, I have no way to get ahold of my husband and he’s at work.”

Amanda hesitates.

“Well, actually Shelly, I was going to drive to my parents. I need a shower and I need to eat.”

“Please Amanda, please. I really need to get ahold of my husband. Look, we were waiting to tell people, but I’m pregnant. Jack and I were planning on going to the doctors later when he gets home, but now I’m having pain and I want to get that checked out. If you can’t give me your car, will you at least give me a ride when you leave?”

Amanda reaches out to Shelly and gives her a hug.

“Congratulations to you both Shelly. Take the car, I can stay here. I’ll get the keys for you,”

“Oh my God, thank you so much Amanda!”

Shelly grabs the keys from Amanda and leaves with her car. It begins to pour down rain as she leaves. Amanda puts all of her attention to a noise coming from her bedroom.

“Mr. Whiskers!”

Amanda jumped in surprise.

“You scared me kitty. What are you doing in here baby, I put you in the garage earlier. It’s much warmer in there anyway.”

Amanda realizes Mr. Whiskers is in her makeup bag, chewing on her lipstick.

“Really?”

She hesitates.

“I just got that, two days ago. You’re an evil spawn. Actually, you just gave me an idea.”

Amanda grabs the makeup bag from underneath her cat. She sits in front of her mirror and does her makeup. After twenty minutes go by, she finally finishes, and wonders what to do next.

“Mr. Whiskers, would you like to play rock paper scissors? No? Okay, I figured. That would be too easy anyway, I’d win every time. What if I play the game myself? I’d never win, and never lose, it’s a win for both of me, ha!

Amanda looks at herself in the mirror for a few moments. She plays a few rounds, then takes an intermission.

“Okay, this time, you are going down.”

She goes for the final round, landing on paper. She froze in shock, realizing her reflection landed on scissors.

“OH. MY. GOD. AHHHH! Get away you beast! Wait, did I just call myself a beast? Get away you, charming beast!

She falls backwards off her chair, when her reflection begins to speak.

“Amanda, calm down sweetie. We don’t have much time now, hurry, before it’s too late.”

Amanda gets up off the floor, and looks at her reflection.

“Where we going? Because you see, I can’t leave Mr. Whiskers here alone.”

“Then bring him. Put him into his carrier behind your stand, and hurry. We must go.”

“Okay. but please excuse my messy room, I…”

“…stayed up late, eating pizza and had a sing off with the cat while watching your show. Yes, I know. Now let’s go now. Just come to me and step in.”

Her reflection interrupted. Amanda then hesitates.

“His name, is Mr. Whiskers!”

Amanda walks towards her mirror with her cat, steps into it. Her reflection then pulls her the rest of the way. Amanda stood up into a room that looks like hers.

“Hello? Where did you go?”

“Over here. Hi Amanda, I need help, and only you can save me. My name is Emily, and this is my home.”

Amanda looks around, confused.

“Your home? No, this is my home and my room. What do you want?”

“No Amanda, this WAS your home, six years ago. This is my home now.”

Amanda is stunned by the news.

“What? What the hell are you talking about, who are you?!”

Emily walks closer.

“Amanda, you’re dead. You were murdered in this house, six years ago. I’m in danger, and I need your help. I did some research on this house, and your murder case. The guy who killed you, killed the people who lived here before you. I believe I’m next on his list. In my guess, it could be any day now, because he killed you exactly six years after the other couple. I’m scared Amanda, and I need your help.”

Amanda sits down. She can’t believe what she is hearing, but it explains a lot.

“How did I die? The man, who killed me, how did he?”

Emily sits next to her to comfort her.

“The day you died, there was a big storm. Your neighbor’s house was destroyed, and I guess you gave them your car because it wasn’t in your driveway. The guy who killed you was your neighbors husband. They were expecting, and she drove to his work, but was in a fatal accident. He blamed you. Now, he’s after me.”

“Emily, if this is true, then leave.”

“I can’t Amanda, he’s watching me. I told the police, but they don’t believe me, they said he was dead, but he’s not.”

“I can’t believe this is happening.”

“You don’t have to Amanda. Wake up.”

“What do you mean?”

“Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up.”

“STOP!”

Amanda wakes up.

“STOP!”

“Amanda! Are you okay? What is it?”

Amanda sits up from the couch, looks around and sees Lilly at the door,

“What happened?”

“I told you I was leaving, you came out running and fell. Are you alright?”

Amanda starts to cry.

“No! No, I’m dead!”

Lilly takes off her coat and shoes. Grabs Amanda and sits her on the couch.

“Do you want me to stay?”

Amanda stops crying.

“Yes, please.”

“Okay, let me call Jimmy and we can watch our show.”

“Thank you Lilly!”

Amanda lays down under her blanket, while Lilly goes into the kitchen and calls Jimmy. The door knocks.

“Amanda, hi.”

“Emily?”

“You woke up.”

“I did.”

Emily smiles at Amanda, then walks away in the distance. The rain begins to pour, and Amanda rushes inside, and locks the door.
